Decorative Flake Epoxy System
Also known as decorative vinyl color chips, flakes or fleck are specially formulated paint aggregates used to enhance the aesthetic qualities of seamless, resin-based chip/flake flooring systems. This unique product is random in shape, sized within a standardized range and custom blended to match any decor.
Color Flakes are continuing to gain popularity amongst architects, designers, contractors and consumers, because of their unique properties that deliver complete customization to commercial, residential and industrial floors with an endless range color-styles, texture, size and blending options.
Choose from a color chart of pre-mixed color patterns or blend your own in a custom pattern. The flakes are broadcast even over a still wet coat of Epoxy Seal 707. It’s important that the color of epoxy compliments the color scheme of the flake pattern for a professional, clean looking floor. A topcoat of Chargar 321 Urethane should be applie once the epoxy has had time to cure. This not only locks the flake into place but also leaves an extremely durable and professional looking floor.
How much flake do I need?
The proper amount of flake to use is a subjective number, based on the personal preferences and styles of the owner of the floor. Some customers prefer not to see the solid floor below and chose to cover completely with flake while others prefer a more sparse broadcast. See the pictures in the gallery for an example of different broadcast rates. Once you determine if you would like a light, medium or heavy broadcast you will be able to determine how much flake you’ll need for the job.
- For a Light Flake Broadcast: order 3 lbs. of flake per 200 ft²
- For a Heavy Flake Broadcast: order 3 lbs. of flake per 50 ft²
